Vans Warped Tour San Diego 2015

The Vans Warped Tour will
always have a special place in my heart. It is my childhood. I grew up
going to warped tour seeing my favorite bands since 2005. I didn't
attend warped last year for reasons and I surely missed it. I felt like
something was missing from my summer. This year I had to make sure I
didn't miss it. I started my day off at 6 am working (photographing
Junior lifeguards at the beach) then I headed down to Qualcomm stadium
(Warped Tours new location). Already exhausted from work I was drained
even more from having to stand on a black parking lot in 90 degree
weather. Gross. I vote they move it back to Chula Vista near the water.
It's a lot cooler there.
Anyways, the first band I saw was Senses Fail
*. A band I've listened to since high school. Even though Buddy is the
only original member left they are still great to see live. After Senses
Fail I walked around looking at merch then saw Shane Told from Silverstein
* play an acoustic set. He didn't have a set lit so he let everyone scream
out songs they wanted to hear and threw in a few covers. I had some
more time to kill after Shane's set so I tried to find shade and failed.
(Only to find out after warped all the shade was under the trolley line
at the front of the venue.)
Then it was time to see This Wild Life*
.
I just started listening to them this year and I adore them so much.
Their acoustic sound is very different from the screaming hardcore I normally listen to but it's a great pallet cleansers for my
ears. On the stage right next to where This Wild Life played was Hands Like House*
.
Another band I adore! I was so stoked to get the see them since they
had to cancel their show in January. They had a great set and I'm very
stoked for their new album. They are adding more heavy elements to their
songs and I dig it a lot!!
I think at this point I have some more time to kill so I bought some
merch and then found a bit of shade. That was a relief. I love hometown
sets, that's when bands brings their all because all their friend and
family are there and Pierce the Veil*
is no exception. My favorite shows of theirs has all be here in San
Diego. I just can't wait until they put out their new album. I'm ready
to hear them play new songs and not the same ones over again.
Now it was time for the best set of the day, SILVERTOOTH! A hybrid band containing members from Silverstein and Beartooth*
. This set was kind of chaotic but it was the good chaos. Each band played a song one at a time and their last song the played a Ramones cover. I hope Silvertooth does more shows it was too much fun. Lastly I saw Pvris*
last two song. My Warped Tour was complete! It was a good day minus the heat. I hope the next years line up is just as good as this year.
